People who have Botox treatments usually love what the Botox does, so when it starts to wear off they come back for another treatment, they do that year after year. But sometimes after doing it for a couple of years they start to ask, how many years can I keep doing this for? The answer is easy, for as long as you like what the Botox does and in a moment I’ll give you an example of why somebody might stop using Botox. But the bottom line is, it doesn’t accumulate in your body and there’s no lasting effect. As a matter of fact, years ago we used to think, that if you did it regularly the muscle would weaken and stay weakened permanently. We found out that wasn’t correct, when you stop doing Botox, the muscle comes back to its full strength. So you can keep doing Botox treatments for as many years as you like and you can even have as many treatments in a year as you need. But let me explain why somebody might stop their treatments. As time goes on we lose collagen, we lose elastic tissue, and we all know that gravity always wins. So especially in our forehead, which is one of the main areas that people get Botox treatments for, for these lines in their forehead, as time goes on the skin starts to sag a little bit. And as a matter of fact you can actually see that the eyebrows come down a little bit and it sort of closes the appearance of your eyes. Now, we compensate for that by using muscles up here to hold the eyebrows up, the same muscle that causes these lines and wrinkles. So if you’re going to treat that muscle with Botox to stop those lines and wrinkles in those people, their eyebrows are going to come down a little bit and their eyes are going to appear a bit more closed and bushy. So now you know why I don’t have any Botox in my forehead.
