Why Women's Skin Appears to Age Worse than Men's
Oh and I sent in a question about a week back. Just wondering if it was received.
@Ben: I did in fact receive it. I responded today and am trying to respond to viewers as quickly as possible! Hope you found my response helpful.
men actually age faster than women. Look at any 30 year old male and looks at 30 yr old female. Women are just held to a tougher standard than men. The same lines and sagging on a woman are judged a lot more harshly.
@DKN: While it is true that in general women's facial appearances are held to a higher standard than are men's, I know of no evidence that indicates that men's skin ages faster than women's and in fact and in fact I believe that daily exfoliation by men (through shaving) favors their skin being more youthful and regular makeup use by women because of its intrinsic SPF can benefit their skin in terms of being more youthful. It's an interesting balance.
Can the daily use of glycolic acid 10% (aha)and retionl or having a peel in three months (only light peel) or having a fraxel treatment cause thinning of skin in the long run, or it is good for skin to prevent age spots and wrinkling? I am just concerned about the thinning of skin.
@Fozia: Net thinning of the entire epidermis of course is not good. However, all of the modalities you mentioned cause a thinning of only the dead (undesirable) layer of the epidermis, plus a thickening of the live layers which actually causes a net thickening of the entire epidermis, which is very desirable. Sleep well!
Awesome video. Very enlightening. I've often wondered about this. That shaving is a contributing factor was particularly interesting for me.
